When working with real plant infusions, timing matters.

Each infusion is made by slowly steeping herbs or botanicals into oil until the plant compounds have fully transferred. This process takes time, and different plants — and even the same plant at different times — reach readiness at different rates. Because of this, infusions aren’t interchangeable on a fixed schedule.

I always have multiple infusions in progress at various stages. When it comes time to formulate a batch, I work with the infusions that are fully ready and at their peak rather than forcing consistency by using something under-infused or rushed.

As a result, the specific infusion used in a formula may vary slightly from batch to batch. The purpose and function of the product remain the same. What changes is simply which botanical is best prepared at that moment.

This approach allows the formulation process to stay aligned with the natural pace of plant materials instead of relying on artificial standardization. It also ensures that every product is made with properly developed infusions rather than compromised or prematurely used ones.

Working this way is slower and requires flexibility, but it reflects a commitment to quality and to respecting the ingredients as they are — not as a production schedule would prefer them to be.
