Sugar Whip Scrub- "Coffee & Vanilla"
- Description
Scent: Coffee with a hint of vanilla
This beautiful luxurious whip will feel so soft yet scrubby on your skin. It's a scrub, it's a soap... wait... it's both =). I lovingly crafted this entire recipe from scratch. It's unlike anything you'll find in your local supermarket.
Fun /not so fun Fact: Most sugar scrubs and melt and pour soaps contain something called propylene glycol. Propylene glycol is "generally recognized as safe" by the FDA, however, in my years as a soap maker I have found it to be a common skin irritant. It's in so many different products and formulations that (in my opinion) it can be easily overlooked as the culprit for causing people irritation and even illness.
There are some peer reviewed articles that discuss when used in high doses or for prolonged periods, PG toxicity can occur. Reported adverse effects from PG include central nervous system (CNS) toxicity, hyperosmolarity, hemolysis, cardiac arrhythmia, seizures, agitation, and lactic acidosis.
So... I just figured... I'll leave it out. =)
Directions: Grab a few spoon fulls and head into a bath or shower. Rub it on from head to toe if you like. You'll find a little goes a long way!
